What is Mock COP?

Mock Conference of Parties (MCOP) is an experience which is aimed at transporting youth into the centre of global climate politics.

With recent UNFCCC COPs, most notably COP 28, featuring dedicated pavilions for youth and education, there is an increasing emphasis on amplifying youth voices. In response, various organisations have organised MCOPs to engage the new generation in global climate dialogues.

Mock COP is GSF’s attempt to bring our K-12 students into the fold through an event that is open to all schools within the GSF fold.

MCOP AT GSF

Aligned with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) GSF MCOP will  focus on youth voices. This event aims to foster dialogue on climate change that will encompass mock negotiations, panel discussions, speeches, and workshops facilitated by experts in sustainability.

This special event for K-12 schools is designed to make a significant impact by empowering young minds to engage with global issues. These events provide students with invaluable opportunities to grasp the complexities of real-world negotiations and experience the essence of COPs, aligning them with the crucial discussions shaping our future.

We have partnered with prestigious organisations to bring this dream to fruition.

Our Partners

Each partner—YOUNGO, WWF, IUCN CEC, and TERI—brings unique expertise and perspectives to the Global Schools Group Mock COP (GSG MCOP)Together, these partners provide diverse perspectives, enhancing the event’s impact, and ensuring a holistic approach to climate action that integrates youth leadership, conservation, education, and research.
