GIIS PG SMART Campus

The green and sustainable SMART Campus, which is eco-friendly at its very foundation is awarded the status of Gold by Building and Construction Authority (BCA).The design of the building development has these elements monitoring building energy performance, advanced green efforts, climatic responsive design, smart and healthy building.

GIIS East Coast : “GrowMoreGood” Hydroponics

This initiative has been a resounding success, empowering students from grades 4 to 10 to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial skills. Through hands-on involvement in indoor hydroponic gardening, students not only enhance their understanding of the garden to table concept but also cultivate a deep appreciation for food, agriculture, science, and plant growth.

India

GIIS Noida : Plastic collection drive & Butterfly garden

The Interact Club of GIIS Noida partnered with the Save Mother Earth Mission organization to launch a single-use plastic recycling initiative. They collected a total of 102 kilograms of plastic waste, including wrappers, bottles, containers, bags, toys, and other plastic items.  The school has also worked on a participatory educational project by creating a mini butterfly garden within the school premises, aiming to raise environmental awareness among students. The garden features host plants for common butterflies observed in the school surroundings, along with nectaring plants like Lantana, Marigold, Ixora, Rose, and Hibiscus.

Glendale International School, Hyderabad : Composting

The compost project team collaborated with the student council to tackle food waste at its source. Transitioning from awareness to action, the team worked with school kitchen staff to segregate cooked food from inedible kitchen waste like vegetable peels. This waste was directed to composting, a sustainable solution devised by the students. The team reduced cooked food waste by about 75%, and 180 kilograms of nutrient-rich compost were generated.

One World International School, Sarjapur, Bengaluru : Fistful of Grains

IBDP students at OWIS Sarjapur led the "Fistful of Grains" project, collecting 1300 kg of grains, which they donated to an NGO. This effort showcased their compassion and commitment to community service.

Malaysia

Regent International School (Klang Campus)

Regent Klang, stood out among the recipients at the Low Carbon City Awards Ceremony 2023, held by the Klang Royal City Council. The prestigious Diamond award under the Partner Category was awarded by Malaysia’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability for the campus’ commitment to fostering a low-carbon footprint and promoting eco-conscious practices within its educational environment.

GIIS Kuala Lumpur

As part of the school’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development GIIS KL initiated a unique project called "Sustainable Fashion Week." The project aimed to educate students about sustainability while encouraging them to take action against climate change. The students showcased their exceptional and creative outfits made with recycled and eco-friendly materials.

Japan

GIIS Tokyo : Drive the Pantry initiative

The annual food drive, Drive the Pantry, initiated in 2017, has transformed into a sustainable project. Each year students contribute food items like Rice and Noodles. The response was overwhelmingly positive in recent years, with 1025kg of food collected, earning Second Harvest (Food bank) Japan's appreciation.

UAE

GIIS Abu Dhabi : Green School Audit

This collaborative effort is facilitated by the Environmental Agency, Abu Dhabi involves teachers, staff and students of the school. Through hands-on experiences, students are immersed in various facets of sustainability, engaging in experiential learning methods such as calculating carbon footprints, reducing waste, doing water and energy audits.

Phillipines

CISM: Recycle Advocates

Recycle Advocates, initiated by CISM students, promotes sustainability through the 5Rs: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle. Starting with small-scale initiatives like collecting tetra packs, they engaged their school community in environmental stewardship. By the end of the year 2023 the students had collected 210kg of plastic, 4115 bottles and 560kg of paper!
